Erica's Error

“Hypothetically...” His eyes grew serious. “...let's say there is something called a Storyteller.”

“I like stories.” I nodded.

“Good. I hope you like this one.” He muttered. “And when a Storyteller turns 17, he or she develops Storyteller Abilities like changing clothes.”

“That would make it easier to get to school on time.” I commented.

He nodded. “And let's say each Storyteller has to go to a village...let's call it Angeline to keep those abilities.”

“That's what the Good Friar called this dream.” My eyes narrowed. I wasn't sure I liked where this was going.

“Yeah, he did.” Emeric's eyes were very expressive. “Well, to keep the abilities you have to stay in Angeline with your...your...” He froze.

“Your what?” I tilted my head.

“Soulmate.” Emeric finally said. “And you have to stay in Angeline a year to keep being a Storyteller.”

I blinked a few times, stunned.

“Erica?” Emeric moved his head to get a better look at me. “Are you okay?”

I pinched my arm. It hurt. I made a face. My eyes grew five times.

“This isn't a dream, is it?” I was stunned.

“So not a dream.”
