""Mrs. Tim of the regiment"" carries on through 1940; she meddles in her friends' activities, she faces the fear of Tim's loss, she bridges the language gap when Polish soldiers arrive on the scene, she forwards a romance between a houseguest and a wounded soldier, she and Tim look beyond the the days of war to a future outside the army.
