[Heartland Zombie Apocalypse 01] • Surviving The Dead

America's heartland, the part of the union that does not touch an ocean. These flyover states recognized for conservative values and breadbasket agriculture are, however, not known for excitement. For Iowa farm girl, Crystal Innes that steadfast reality changed abruptly. Preparing to travel to Sioux City, Crystal witnesses her once trusted neighbor inflict a bloody and grisly attack on her parents.

Crystal is turned over to the protection of the Army by the National Guard. She and the last remnants of people from her hometown, travel with the soldiers to join their unit. With the risen dead rapidly outnumbering the living Colonel, Bryan Osgood, unable to reach central command or other units develops a desperate plan to save humanity.

Gathering together pockets of survivors Colonel Osgood outfits them with supplies and sends them to an isolated resort in southern Nebraska. The Colonel and his men make a stand to hold back the tide of ravenous dead near Lincoln Nebraska. While, Michigan transplant Ivan 'Mac' McPherson, Iowan Crystal Innes and a band of over 200 rescued souls, must pull together, learn the rules of the new world and somehow survive the dead.
