Premature infant Marjorie Fielding views the world placidly from inside an incubator in a display at Coney Island. Once the baby is strong enough to come home, her modern mother follows the advice of an "expert" who espouses child-rearing on a strictly scientific plan. Mr. Fielding thinks this is nonsense and foils his wife's efforts whenever possible. When the baby is taken ill, Mrs. Fielding realizes that what little Marjorie really needs is not a dietary plan and fitness regimen, but human contact and warmth.
