On a typically icy Midwest afternoon, Courtney comes home from the market to discover a horror: Tommy sprawled on the floor, in a pool of blood, dead. The abuse record and brutal nature of the crime are enough for police to arrest her, and she's soon charged with her husband’s murder. With the trial looming, and evidence seemingly against her, Courtney is terrified at the reality she may lose her children, and finds herself with one desperate hope—to hunt down real the killer.

As Courtney’s search plunges her into a small-town underworld of meth-labs, strip bars and hired killers, the truth about her husband's, as well as her father's five-year-old murder case emerges, until Courtney finds herself caught in the most terrifying place imaginable—fleeing from the killer.
