Rustic Roads

My books have been professionally edited so hopefully any of the glitches previous reviewers noticed have been corrected. Rustic Roads is a mystery/thriller about a woman, Susan Jessup, who travels to the small rural community of Collinville, for a week long vacation with her pet dog, Sasha. She had planned to meet her stepsister at her aunts summer home on Half Moon Lake.

Life had been difficult for Susan lately due to a failed long term relationship. She has quit her job, put her furniture in storage and now has to assess what she wants to do next with her life.

After a call to her mother before leaving Chicago, Susan is told her stepsister, Loni, has not been heard from for a week. Susan isn’t too concerned because her stepsister has disappeared like this in the past. Loni was on a bike tour of Rustic Roads around the state of Wisconsin before her senior year of college. The last time anyone heard from Loni, she was heading for the aunts summer home on Half Moon Lake. Loni was going to travel three of the roads listed in the Rustic Roads pamphlet that were located in the small community of Collinville.

Susan had hoped to use this time to reassess her life while putting to rest her sister’s disappearance. As the story progresses Susan is swept up into the lives of the people in the small community. She finds herself strongly attracted to Calvin Montgomery who aided her after an untimely car accident. As the week progresses Susan realizes there is more to Calvin than she first realized. She also suspects he could be involved in the disappearance of two women along with Loni. When his own sister turns up dead, Calvin is Susan’s prime suspect.
