Britain’s top super-spy, Jack Malaney, has settled into a comfortable assignment in South Africa at the head of a UK government backed company. In the early 1990’s South Africa is a country on the verge of seismic change and Britain, like every other powerful nation around the world, wants to be part of that change—there is money to be made and strategic military alliances to be forged across the entire continent, and the new South Africa is the only legitimate gateway to all that Africa has to offer. From mineral wealth to safe havens for international terrorists—the stakes could not be higher as Africa braces itself for a new land grab.

Jack’s role in this brave new world is to glad hand the new generation of politicians and military leaders in South Africa to ensure that Her Majesty’s government stays relevant in a world in flux. Jack is good at what he does, and with a series of high profile deals already secured, his confidence is running high. For the first time since he joined the service Jack feels that he is finally getting to experience what it is like to live a normal life.

A deadly explosion in the building where Jack is based reminds him that danger is never that far away. With so many enemies in the present to investigate as possible suspects behind the bombing, Jack barely considers the possibility that his past might be catching up with him. That soon changes when a man from Jack’s time spent undercover in Ireland, who Jack considered long since dead, turns up at Jack’s home, with murder on his mind. A simultaneous attack by another unknown enemy at Jack’s home leads to a tactical alliance between Jack and his would-be Irish assassin. That uneasy alliance leads to a murderous race against time as the two men rush to uncover a plot that aims to change the world through weapons of mass destruction and the subversion of legitimate democracies—from the US to the UK, South Africa to Russia—not since the Second World War has the world been in such peril.Britain’s top super-spy, Jack Malaney, has settled into a comfortable assignment in South Africa at the head of a UK government backed company. From mineral wealth to safe havens for international terrorists—the stakes could not be higher as Africa braces itself for a new land grab. As the story reaches a critical stage Jack encounters another ghost from his past—a beautiful Mossad agent named Alexa. Jack met Alexa when he was deep undercover in Eastern Europe as the former Soviet Union began to disintegrate. They uncovered a plot to smuggle Soviet nukes into Israel. The plot was the brainchild of hard-line elements within the Israel political class. As punishment for their actions, Jack and Alexa are forbidden from ever seeing each other again. Not the worse punishment they could have received given the ruthless nature of the men behind the plot, except for one small fact—Jack and Alexa are deeply in love.

Reunited with the only woman who he ever loved, Jack is as determined to renew and secure his relationship with Alexa as he is to stop the deadly plot that threatens world peace. Faced with a heartbreaking decision between saving the woman that he loves or saving the world from a frightening new tyranny, will Jack live to regret the choice that he makes?
