Book six in the Zak Turner series starts right where book five ends with the action all taking place in County Kerry, Ireland. Anguilas Malchus however soon finds that his nephew is no longer the biddable and controllable eleven-year-old that he used to be before his trip into the World of the Dead. Shaul for his part has another chance to escape from the dark, but fate has other plans for youngster. Once Anguilas has finished with him, having tasted the full power of the dark side, it once again proves irresistible to the young wizard's newly bewitched mind.
The non-magical population of Britain and Ireland are soon reeling from a series of disasters and inexplicable events which have spawned lurid press stories, and led to near panic in Ireland. Antares Malchus is ratcheting up the pressure in Ireland, and is working ever harder to achieve his dream - a homeland independent from the Wizard Council. His focus on Ireland is bad news for the residents of the Dingle peninsular, but it's a relief for everyone else. Will it bring peace to the mainland, though, as Easter approaches?
His brother Anguilas isn’t resting either, and his greedy eyes are diverted from his quest to reopen the portal into the World of the Dead, and have once again settled on Mhonarr Castle school. The evil wizard is determined to take it for his own as he wants the army of youngsters within for his own dark plans, and so he begins a far more insidious attack on the minds of the staff knowing that once he controls them, the students are his for the taking.
Zak and Tallion are feeling the pressure from their dual lives, and find themselves constantly hopping between their two schools. As they slowly uncover Anguilas's plans, the need to take action and stop him becomes clear. Tragedy also surrounds the boys, and they start to realise that life can be cruel and unforgiving, even when you’re just eleven…
Book six only covers a single month of Zak's life so don't expect to find yourself leaping forward into the future just yet, but it is a well and truly jam packed month of incidents and events. This book is also the first part of "The Battle for Mhonarr" mini-series which finally sets the backdrop for the rest of the tale. Much has yet to be decided about which side everyone is on, but by the end of this battle, when Zak and Tallion emerge from their first year of wizard school we all will have a very clear idea of the task that fate has set them...
