Wash Ashores

It is 1953. Sylvia Hinshaw, fourteen, reads the word ‘divorce' on the top sheet of a pile of papers in her parents' home in Virginia. She is sent away to her aunt, Vivian, and husband, Adam, in their grand summer home on Cape Cod.

Sylvia arrives at Cape Cod, lost and insecure. Vivian and Adam and their friends, Catherine and Eric, make clumsy attempts to welcome and understand her but are compromised by their own preoccupations. The housekeeper, Hanna, offers the most authentic friendship.
