A celebration of a tempestuous relationship.
Justin, baffled at being attracted to women who are never content to remain content, either grappling with inner demons or flat-out enamored of conflict, questions his tendencies, wondering if he’s wholly sane. The women he’s attracted to seem stable enough at first, as well as agreeably-dispositioned: why is he always oblivious of their urges to sow disorder?
In Justin’s own words: “Why am I afflicted with reverse radar, such that I only become involved with girls who are the opposite of what I want? Why am I a magnet for sweet-faced closet crazies without wishing to be? Why do disturbed beauties repeatedly dupe me into believing them to be balanced and then unleash chaos in my home?”
But perhaps Justin’s being shortsighted, overlooking the fact these women bring challenging, and ultimately reinvigorating, experiences into his life—make it possible for him to take his true measure, become more emotionally resilient and centered, self-aware and strong? And, while undeniably temperamental and given to indulging in stressful drama, these women are also sincere and unpretentious and supportive at heart, so perhaps Justin ought to weigh such in the balance and learn to appreciate the positive? His tendencies may not be questionable after all.
Told via two confessional emails, spaced a year apart, to intimate friends, Tallulah Tempest is a journey of self-discovery, in which Justin’s bafflement evolves into joyous revelation.
