John Gardener a mill owner from Blackburn decides to sell up and buy a country estate in the heart of the Lancashire countryside. When he moves in to Moorcroft with his wife Emily and their two children Richard and Sarah he is unfamiliar with its background or that it has a permanent sitting tenant, Charlotte a ghost.
