Using creatures taken from the abyss—creatures whose very nature makes them uncontrollable—the Guardian Kasai has begun its vengeance on the gods who created the prison.

Their homeland destroyed when Kasai killed their god, the Takare survivors flee from the Landsend Plateau. The fiercest warriors Atria has ever known have once again taken up arms, killing Kasai’s soldiers wherever they find them. Only Shakre sees the jaws of Kasai’s trap closing on them, but they no longer heed her.

Wulf Rome knows steel and muscle won’t be enough to defeat Kasai. He needs Quyloc’s rendspear, the powerful weapon carved from the shadow world of the Pente Akka. But when the hunter captures Quyloc, Rome has to take a terrible risk or lose his old friend to the Pente Akka forever.

Netra saved Shorn’s life on the Plateau, and now he is bound to her by a debt he can never repay. Over time, Netra’s fight to save her world becomes a cause he can believe in, and maybe a chance to redeem himself. But when Netra discovers the atrocity that the Guardian Tharn has committed, she spirals down into darkness and begins using her newfound power to kill, forcing Shorn to choose between honoring his vow and trying to save her from herself.

As the pivotal battle against Kasai’s army begins, Netra makes the fateful decision to go to the gates of the prison and face Melekath alone.

And all the while the abyss continues to leak into the world…
