The title begins with the diagnosis and assessment of dementia and distinguishes between the different cognitive presentations that may or may not be dementia. It then covers the options for early intervention before addressing drug treatments, behavioural and psychological symptoms, and dementia in younger people. The impact of dementia upon the families and carers is emphasised throughout the book and in a specific chapter as are the complex legal and ethical issues involved with dementia patients and their families. The concluding chapter addresses care pathways and the planning and provision of care at the end of life.
