Hetty Werkendam was thirteen years old when she was sent to Belsen, where se lived in the infamous "Children's House," overlooking an open mass grave. There she witnessed at first hand the horrors of the Holocaust. Her account of life in the Children's House provides a painfully poignant, but strangely uplifting Holocaust story.
