Colorado Springs, a city that sits at the base of Pikes Peak, is more than one mile above sea level and covers over 186 square miles. The colorful city is known for its beautiful mountain scenery and its hiking trails that run in and out of Pikes Peak National Forest. By day outdoor enthusiasts scour the foothills enjoying everything the endless forest has to offer, but by night a monster hunts for his next victim. The Pikes Peak Killer stalks the city raping, killing, and taking trophies from his unsuspecting female victims.

Detective Axel Frost is exhausted, frustrated, and out of leads when he gets help from an unexpected source. Agent Jaxson Locke of the FBI arrives late in the investigation and uninvited. Agent Locke shares his psychological profile of the killer with the detective. It's a psychological profile that shocks some people involved in the investigation, but to Detective Frost, it was something he had always suspected.
