An Elusive Sky

An adventurous expedition to Central America sets the scene for a group of experienced cavers, contracted to map an extensive system in the mountains of Belize.

Austen Wilkes, the successful cartographer in charge of the group is totally focused on her business and is still smarting from a marriage that was torn apart by that same undivided devotion to her job. She has no desire, or time to even think about a relationship with another woman. That was before an ambitious biologist joined her team.

Dr. Lillian Mansion, knew nothing about caves or caving, but as a newly appointed representative of her employer, Johns Hopkins, she was anxious to prove her mettle. As a search for extremophile life in a new and challenging environment, she thought it was the perfect test.

Thrown together in this confining environment, the two form a bond and ‘Lilly’ begins to understand some long standing questions about her sexuality, and why she was so drawn to the strong, dark and wildly attractive Austen.

Events unfold that challenge them both, and the fledgling relationship is tested. Can Lilly find a way into Austen’s heart, and can Austen, torn by recent events as well as her failed marriage, find room in her life for someone new?

One final turn may hold the answer, as they truly discover how much they really each mean to one another. Will Austen and Lilly finally find the peace they seek together, or for one of them, will the elusive sky prove too great a challenge to attain?
