Danielle is about to start a journey that will radically change her life. On the train back to college, she meets a, let’s say, mature couple who join her on an important part of that journey. To continue their romance, the Bigelows book a 40th-anniversary trip to Alaska, where they meet her.
Growing up in Alaska she grew to love the environment. Both beauty and peril were part of her memories of times with her dad. Dad, a Tanana, Mom, a Russian, made her a striking and vigorous young single. She missed the rugged nature of the Brooks Range. Hunting and camping were vivid and happy stories that made her desire to look out for the land and others in need. Always aware, she kept her search and rescue backpack, part of her S&R club provision, nearby.
Because of her experience so far, she had a complete path planned for her life, but this trip may spark thinking about another way that is really what her future holds.
At the end of this last week before classes, she and the Bigelows go above the Arctic Circle on an airplane for a short day trip to an Eskimo village.
What ordeal will she and the Bigelows share that they become friends for a lifetime? It will change her life and put her on a path toward light.
