This book is the start of a rather good series involving magic, fighting and betrayal of all kinds. A girl of the age of 14 escapes the assassination of her entire family by pure luck and is forced to go from being part of a noble, rich family to attempting to survive on the streets of the city. To stop anyone who might mean her harm she dresses up as a boy in hopes this will also help her find a way to earn some money as well.
