“Gave an interesting perspective on why white women were actually happy to live with the Indians. Really like Alexandra and her spunk even after something did not go her way! Also liked Hunter, his respect for others of both cultures, and his sense of responsibility.”—Kshydog, Goodreads
This love adventure story sizzles when Lady Alexandra Lambert meets Hunter of the Shawnee, who cannot allow her be sold to the Cap-i-tan, the renegade British officer who trades in women.
Lady Alexandra is tied to a nearby tree when the buckskinned English free spirit known as Hunter of the Shawnee arrives at the trading post with his childhood friend Jon. Hunter asks Two Crows, her captor, “The female. What’s your price for her?”
“She has already been sold.”
Hunter tightens his grip on the musket he holds comfortably in one hand. He casts a sideways glance at his friend, Jon, who stands nearby. “How much? I’ll pay more.”
Two Crows shakes his head emphatically. “No. I do not sell the woman. She is much trouble.”
Hunter swings his musket through the air, bringing the muzzle up directly between the legs of the Iroquois. “I said I’ll take this one,” Hunter mouths through clenched teeth. “Name a price. Or I take her without payment.”
“No price. She is sold.”
“Then she comes with us. Cut her loose. Now.” He gestures to Jon. Jon strolls past Two Crows, giving him a wink.
“You make a mistake,” Two Crows mutters. “You steal Cap-i-tan’s woman. Cap-i-tan will track you down, take the woman, kill you.”
Hunter promises Alexandra her freedom and stirs in her a most smoldering desire. She is irresistibly drawn to this un-English Englishman, his wild heart and rugged good looks. As they escape for their lives through the thick forests in the new continent, mercilessly pursued, Alexandra will gladly sacrifice the strict rules she left behind in England for one more ecstatic night in the safety of Hunter’s strong arms…
