The future has arrived and it’s full of robots, thanks to NeuTech, the company that saved humanity!
Ten years after NeuTech’s Cumulus satellite system took control of climate and began scheduling world-wide weather, life on Earth has become so much better for humans. Technological advancements in every aspect of life have made things sweet and easy, and people are happier for the change. “We help the humans,” the robotic executives explain, “because the humans help us.”
It sounds too good to be true. And Warren Page thinks it is.
Sure, he works for the company. Most people do. But he’s never fully trusted their super-sophisticated artificial intelligence and its ability to mimic humanity. The virtuals are too happy...too positive.
Too perfect.
Warren has noticed flaws in the AI, like his holographic boss Adam, who seems more human than most of his flesh-and-blood co-workers. His office nemesis Brent Doyle suspects that Warren is up to no good; the disappearance of his best friend and former co-conspiracy theorist Josh Render has only made things worse. And the possibility exists that Cumulus is malfunctioning, which would spell huge trouble for the entire planet. So Warren has begun digging into the digital records to find out just what happened to Josh, and to learn what he can about the truer nature of NeuTech, all while trying to keep an eye on his AI leaders. But they are pretty charming. Friendly. Attractive and persuasive. And they want nothing more than to make people everywhere happy.
And that can’t possibly be good.
