Torn out of light speed, captain Tatia Lia of the merchant ship Largo and her crew find themselves at the mercy of the pirate Valith. Their only hope to survive is a mad dogfight over the mysterious Lanaar, a world whose very name has been blacked out from star maps by the Ring World authorities.
