By degrees, knowledge of each translator was recovered from oblivion. Some testimonial was discovered of the fitness of each translator for the most responsible undertaking in the religious literature of the English world -- translation of the Holy Bible. This book contains the ample proof of the surpassing qualifications of the translators for their vast learning, wisdom and piety in doing their high and holy work beginning with Venerable Bede circa A.D. 700 and concluding with the 47 translators commissioned for the 1611 King James Version.
