The Black Peacock

Lethe is taken to Peacock Island by Daniel, her friend from early university days. Daniel has made a name for himself in the thirty years since then - he's an internationally acclaimed writer, winner of the Commonwealth Prize for Poetry. He has spent the years in various places, on fellowships, grants, teaching stints. Lethe has remained in communication with Daniel, but from a distance. At least, alone together, they confront their common past and their unconsummated love affair as late middle-aged adults.
