Jana, a young student living in Prague, escapes with her lover Tomas Barany to Budapest. Her escape from her life with her widowed mother, surprises and dissapoints everyone. After marrying her lover and settling own on his family grounds in Slovakia with his father, she quickly realises that love is not enough to ensure happiness.
The book - a classic of Czech literature - has been the basis for a movie in 2002.
