The present corpus-based study closes this research gap by dealing with over 11,600 tokens of GET in written and spoken English. It not only offers a comprehensive semasiological-syntactic analysis of this extremely versatile verb, but also contributes to the understanding of factors that are at work in variation in World Englishes.
