Maddie and Bean

Maddie, a young girl worked with her mother to keep the farm afloat after her father deserted them. It would be years before they realized he was not coming back. After her mother died, Maddie, now an adult, packed what few possessions she had and headed to Missouri, the last place she finally learned her father lived with a wife and child.

She wondered why she felt driven to find her father especially when she had no desire to see him again. After giving him a copy of her mother's death certificate, she continued her journey west.

Along the way, she met a stray dog that was as skinny as a string bean which she named Bean. Together they continued west until God encouraged them to stop. Her heart began to heal in a small town called Sunset Hill when she bought what the town referred to as an old dinosaur.

Who would have thought she would come to rely on the very man (not her father) that caused her so much anxiety while on the trail going west?
