[Kentucky Yarn 01] • Moonshine, Coal, and Hope

Two young men leave Southeastern Kentucky to fight for their country in World War I. While in France each discovers a world beyond the hills and the coalfields. Each begins the search for his destiny.

For John Fulton, who serves as a medic, he finds his true calling. The Armistice finds him looking to education to build his future and that of his youngest brother Bob, a teenage coal miner. College and new lives await the Fulton brothers.

For Ed, the long-awaited peace leads him to seek a respect and acceptance his moonshining family has never known. Unlike his friend John, Ed doesn't want to wait to carve out a legacy. He hatches a small plan to expand the family business and quickly garners enough wealth and power. His moves capture the attention of the Milners, a powerful family of mine owners who make Ed a target, drawing John and Bob into the fray as a result.

Over the course of the Roaring '20s and into the Great Depression the war between Ed and the Milners rages. Two Kentucky families with humble beginnings start their rise to prominence in the first book of the Kentucky Yarn series.
