Time and tradition have hijacked the definition of the word "confession." Today, its meaning has been virtually limited to admitting sin and wrongdoing, or some other negative thing. But to the informed believer it means "to say the same thing God says, or to agree with what God says in His Word."
In Matthew 12:34, Jesus said, "For out of the abundance of the heart [spirit] the mouth speaketh."
In Luke 6:45, Jesus extends that idea when He says, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."
But Apostle Frederick K.C. Price increases our clarity even more:
". . . you can measure what is in a person's hear by what comes out of his mouth." And . . . what comes out the mouth "will ultimately control his life and lifestyle. The right kind of confession will affect one's life in a positive way. The wrong kind of confession will just as surely ruin one's life."
