After a hurricane leaves his rice crop destroyed, Holt Anderson decides he will never be left at the mercy of the weather again. To combat the future possibility of another unsuccessful harvest season, he hires South Carolina ‘farm-flipper,’ Audrey Davenport, to renovate the family farm he runs with his wife Melanie and their son Wyatt.
But as Audrey begins her work on the farm, Wyatt doubts her abilities. And local pressures from Darlington power-players push the Andersons to sell their farmland so local builder Mark Moore can construct an exclusive country club in place of the vast acreage.
Can Audrey complete her latest farm-flip before local pressures become too much for the Andersons and they give up all together?
As she grows closer with the family, can she put aside her own fears from her parents’ early passing and allow herself to be embraced with the kind of love she’s been missing for so long?
December in Darlington weaves together a story of South Carolina low-country farm life, romance between two unsuspecting cultivators, the age-old magic of Christmas, and an ending as fulfilling as the sugary spirit of the holidays.
