New York firefighter Meg Pratt is among the survivors. Together with her fellow rescue workers and the scattered elements of America's front line military fighters, Meg will have to survive the first day of the Hemorrhage Virus. She hopes to save at least one other soul from the coming apocalypse, but day will turn to night and the monsters are winning.

Across the city, a would-be United States Marine, Jed Welch, is on his own path to survival, and it is taking him straight to Meg's fire station.
