You Matter to Me, Now

Monty Barnard loves his work at the Spanish subsidiary of Blue Infinity Marketing. Barcelona is a great place to be. He may be fluent in the local languages but his youthful ways and arrogant self-confidence do not endear him to his seniors; and yet, he brings in the deals.

A visit by a senior management team from London is not all that it seems but he is distracted by Anna Nicholls. She falls for his seductive and passionate ways for the time she is with him. Anna sees Monty’s situation differently and is powerless to help him after she returns to London. Economies have to be made in the straightened times Spain is living through and Monty’s job is on the line.

For Monty, this latest episode in an eventful life is not the bad news others think; he has private means to live well but he is not indifferent to the plight of others, especially Tomas Saenz, a friend from University. He is out of work; the country’s dire economic circumstances oblige him to resort to working as a male escort, to the two women he has chosen to call on, just to get by.

Monty is soon drawn in to a passionate and wayward arrangement after a tryst with Alicia, a friend of Tomas’s most devoted consort. The only difference is that he does it for fun and not the money. Alicia may wish the arrangement to be otherwise, but Monty will offer what he likes to do best and on his own terms.

Monty and Anna’s lives have been turned upside down; she misses him and yet she dithers. Monty is unsure how their relationship will play out now that he is no longer on BIM’s payroll; and so he thinks of ways to keep on loving…
