Falkland Islands

A distant dependency of the United Kingdom, the Falkland Islands comprise two main islands, East Falkland and West Falkland, a dozen other sparsely inhabited islands and 734 small uninhabited islands, situated 300 miles from the southernmost tip of South America. Having experienced a short but periodically eventful history, they exploded onto the world scene in April 1982, when they were invaded by the armed forces of the Republic of Argentina, to be recovered by British forces three months later. This volume brings to light information previously found only in obscure and specialist sources.
