Ex-bodyguard Lester Ondáge and Elven manservant Tady O'Shea are living and loving in the land of the Fae, and all is right with their world... or it would be if Lester could fly. Unfortunately, that's a skill reserved for shape-shifting dragons, not mere humans. Tady and Lester embark on a journey to the Seat of Magic to ask a boon of She Who Rules -- that she make Lester a full-fledged member of Clan Dragon and turn him into a shape-shifting Elf just like Tady.

The journey is fraught with danger and menace, filled with lessons to be learned and love to be savored. The greatest lesson of all awaits Lester at the Seat of Magic, when he is forced to make a choice that could end everything between him and the little Elf he loves.
