Aperture on the East

Seeking to heal the wounds she inflicted upon herself and her children, Ana moved her family from Russia to Nha Trang, a sunny beach town in Vietnam. There she met the marine biologist, Vo, who was born in Vietnam but raised in America, now living in his mother’s homeland in self-exile. Ana’s unforgiving children, eleven-year-old Ivan and sixteen-year-old Zoe, expected that their mother’s life would continue its downward spiral, and it did. Unhappy and lonely, Ivan took to skateboarding and gained unexpected friendship, something that had eluded him all his life. Meanwhile, Zoe tried to make it on her own by asserting her identity as a gothic metal musician, but the course of her life was changed when she became unknowingly involved with the criminal underworld. In the end, it would take more than love and determination for all to achieve the salvation they had come to search for in Nha Trang.
