Civilization disintegrated faster than anyone feared. Once the fossil fuels evaporated, economies collapsed like the rickety, rusted-out scaffolding they’d been. The inevitable, ensuing wars set the world ablaze. Nations, as history knew them, fell.

Then came the hard part. Then came the vampires.

With humans weakened, scared, and fighting among themselves, legions of the undead—banned from the surface for thousands of years but watching us from the shadows—saw their chance to reign supreme yet again. Fueled by bloodlust and inhuman cruelty, the vampire attacks grew more frenzied, more brutal by the week.

But on this new Earth, as science falls to the rise of the supernatural, evil doesn’t yet have a death grip on power.

Eve, a young woman with little hope for the return of either civilization or the parents who abandoned her, learns this firsthand when the vampire armies encroach ever closer to her mountain farm. Facing certain death if she stays, Eve strikes out to find her family—and answers about her own innate supernatural gifts.
