Bia's War

In 1914, Bia's rather weak husband goes off to war, leaving her to bring up their son on her own. She opens a 'house shop', which is successful, but it brings her into conflict with her husband and a local butcher who wants to take her husband's place. She discovers she has the strength to overcome all this, helped by some new friends, but then events take a darker turn and the home front becomes as dangerous and evil as the war front.
