Some have been used to spur the entire church to spiritual advancement. One of the greatest of these was the Azusa Street Revival of 1906 in Los Angeles, California. Nearly one hundred years later, the influence of this revival is not only still felt, but is continuing to increase. The seed of almost every subsequent revival, renewal, or reformation movement can be traced back to this point in the church's history. Just as the pattern for a mature oak tree can be found in the genetic code of an acorn, the pattern for what the church is becoming can be seen in Azusa street.
