A Wicked Plan

A Wicked Plan

Lumpy Doolan is a small-town police chief with a big-time problem. His crew of sad sacks that he barely trusts to help little kids cross the street to school and shudders whenever they go to the firing range with loaded handguns are all he has needed until now. But suddenly Chief Doolan needs to find and rescue a missing girl.

Bree isn't the first girl who has disappeared in St. Isidore, and if Doolan fails, she won't be the last to be found dead, swinging from a tree branch in the town's park.

But for the first time, Chief Doolan and the St. Isidore Police Department has a lead on a suspect.

If Doolan's right, a high school teacher could be responsible for dozens of killings over the past several decades. But does Doolan want to solve these cases? Does the town want them resolved? It's always been easier to believe the girls all killed themselves. Doolan's not sure St. Isidore can handle the truth; that they have had a serial killer in their midst for something like thirty years.

And if it is true, that means Doolan has failed to do his job for all that time. He was on the scene when an off-duty cop and his dog discovered the first two bodies. Lumpy Doolan has been running the police department for twenty years. And all that time, teenage girls have been dying.

If Doolan solves this crime and all the others, will he and St. Isidore be able to handle the truth?

While he's trying to decide, the town's teenagers start putting pictures of the victim, Bree, and her kidnapper on Facebook.

Now Doolan is not only in a race against time to solve this case; he is in a race with a bunch of high school kids who might know who has been doing the kidnappings and killings.

Whichever way this goes, Doolan knows he has to bring it to an end quickly.

A Wicked Plan: Book 1 From the St. Isidore Collection is a crime and suspense thriller, a police procedural, that tells the story of Chief Lumpy Doolan, his race against time, and Bree, a teenage girl who might have overplayed her hand.
