The Man With My Voice

Tom Peterson has a few problems. He get’s passed up for a promotion at work, he has trouble communicating with his wife, and the most troubling of all: he hears a dark, malicious voice inside his head that he can’t seem to shut up.

Tom decides to see a psychiatrist and is diagnosed with schizophrenia. His doctor suggests that he join a support group as he undergoes treatment for his condition. There’s only one problem: **There Tom meets a man that has a voice identical to the one in his head.**

*“Yeah. You’re in the right place.”*

The blood runs from my face. *That voice.* I would recognize it anywhere. This man has the exact voice as the one that has been torturing me inside my head.

“You’re… you’re…”

“*Right. I’m glad you understand. You may be dumb but you’re not stupid.”* The man folds his magazine. “*Listen pal, do you think I like this? Do you think this is fun for me? I have better things to do. If you knew what’s good for you you’d listen to me.” *

He leans closer.

*“Are you listening?” *

I nod my head.
