Frank Derwent (F.D. to everyone in the business), the Hollywood hotshot, has come to western Scotland to shoot a movie. But what happens offscreen is much more interesting. Especially when Barbara, budding starlet and F.D's nineteen-year old mistress, is killed. Not quite as sweet as she seemed, the wee lass knew how to blackmail like a pro. Although clever Detective Patterson is on call to lend the local bobby a hand, he can't prevent further loss of life. And Patterson begins to suspect that no one is safe from his past--no matter where he (or she) hides....
