It's the first hour of the first day of summer vacation in Black's Glenn and Astrid Shims is already dying from boredom. When her mother suggests redecorating her bedroom as a fun activity, Astrid has a better idea: to sleep in a coffin. To Astrid's surprise, her mother agrees. But, only if she gets a summer job to pay for it herself. Along with her best friend Waverly, Astrid devises a perfect summer job:reading Tarot Cards. The main flaw with the plan is that they have no idea how. At least they don't think they do. When the girls start making eerily accurate predictions for the residents of Black's Glenn their summer boredom comes to a halt. As soon as news of their summer job goes viral the girls are in way over their heads and they must devise another plan. All before the start of eighth grade.
