**When the town librarian is an avid mystery and true-crime reader, the local law enforcement must need a book-smart assistant like her, right? **

The highlight of summer arrives with lights, sirens and lots of candy. Parades are always a hit with children and adults, but a Fourth of July parade is the best of the best. This year, the parade in Bristol, New Hampshire, has ‘Home for the Holidays’ as the theme. Rebecca, Kenny, his daughters and their extended family gather in front of the library to enjoy the event together. What they don’t expect is to find out they watched the latest victim float down the street as part of the show.

At the conclusion of the parade, Kenny and Rebecca discover one truck remains in the parking lot and still has an occupant who isn’t there voluntarily. Though the means seems clear, it’s the motive and opportunity that remain a mystery.
