I find Cherryh's novels to vary greatly in quality, but the Merchanter Universe stories almost always seem to be at the high end of her talent. This latest is no exception. A truce has ended a long war, but efforts to reclaim an involuntarily abandoned child grow more complicated when the boy, now an adult, decides that he doesn't want to leave his new home.
