In THE YELLOW CLAW and THE GOLDEN SCORPION, French detective Gaston Max and Scotland Yard's Inspector Dunbar work to solve several intractable mysteries set in the opium dens and gritty underworld of London.
In THE YELLOW CLAW, an illusive Chinese mastermind and his henchman have already killed one socialite and they hold a mysterious sway over many of London's elite. What is the secret of their power? Follow the trail with Gaston Max and Inspector Dunbar as they chase the international gang of hoodlums and their leader, the evil Dr. King.
In THE GOLDEN SCORPION, a terrifying figure, in his monkish cowl and green veil, through which baleful eyes glittered haunts Dr. Stuart. The Scorpion takes the form of a golden fragment, innocent enough in appearance, but in fact the symbol of a band as malevolent and desperate as that of Fu-Manchu.
Arthur Henry Sarsfield Ward (1883-1959) aka Sax Rohmer, was an English pulp writer of mysteries, thrillers, and occult novels. He is best remembered for his Chinese master villain, Dr. Fu Manchu. After abandoning a career in the civil service, Rohmer turned to writing full time after the success of THE MYSTERY OF DR. FU MANCHU in 1910. Rohmer published dozens of pulp novels during his career, and was one of the most successful writers of the 1920s and 1930s.
