Pulling The Dragon's Tail

As Nate Kristopher sets out in 2059 to locate his fifteen semi-immortal Alpha Group colleagues, he discovers a psychopath among them who is murdering fellow members of this super secretive group. Struggling to elude the killer’s grasp, he reaches another unsettling truth: there is another psychopath in the Alpha Group--and this one’s agenda is even more malevolent and far-reaching.

But nothing will deter him from his vital mission: stopping the ‘End-Date’, a scientifically predicted worldwide ice age, which looms perilously close. He is confident of his chances, but only if he has enough time, opportunity--and if he can stay alive.

Eluding the killer consumes valuable time and energy. He is also dubious of his traveling companions. Along with his artificially intelligent robot, Dugan, he is tossed together by fate with Campbell Devereaux, the grand-daughter of the mysterious scientist who created the Alpha Group. They must somehow learn to work together even though she is a staunch atheist, and he a dedicated believer in the pacifist Church of Abraham. An equally baffling presence is the transhuman soldier, Es, who forces herself into his life.

Then there is the pesky reporter who has apparently breached the sixty year wall of secrecy about the Alpha Group. Thatcher Grady has knowledge about Nate’s past, truths that Nate had hoped would lie buried forever.

Peek into the future of two generations from today when humans will no longer be able to hide from the consequences of their actions. Humanity’s spiritual foundations will be shaken by new discoveries and beliefs. Hybrid forms of mind and intelligence-transhumans and artificial robotics-will challenge humans like never before.
