James Tandy Ellis (1868-1943) was an American author and lecturer. In 1900 he travelled around the United States telling humourous stories and singing folk songs. He wrote various poetry and short stories. He was known for his newspaper columns Tang of the South and Savor of the Soil. His works include: Poems (1898), Sprigs O' Mint (1906), Awhile in the Mountains (1909), Shawn of Skarrow (1911), Kentucky Stories (1924) and Colonel Torkey Shabb (1925).
