Storm on Venus

It's September 1929, the gilded end of the Roaring Twenties. Hemlines are high, upper lips are stiff, and the British Empire covers half the globe. At stately Hathercombe Hall, deep in the English countryside, the carefree young of the upper classes are celebrating the twenty-first birthday of popular society beauty, the Honourable Daphne Lambent.
