Oscar: An Accident Waiting to Happen is the all-exclusive inside story of ex-girlfriend Samantha Taylor’s tumultuous romantic relationship with the gold-medal athlete which turned into every mother’s nightmare.

Told through the eyes of Sam’s mother, Patricia Taylor, it tracks the heady days of young romance when 24-year-old Pistorius met her 17-year-old daughter, Sam, and became part of the Taylor family’s close circle. The next two-and-a-half years would become a rollercoaster ride of extreme highs and dangerous lows as Pistorius’s growing international celebrity, emotional fragility, broken promises and recklessness consumed the Taylor family.

Brilliantly researched with never before published behind-the-scenes detail, set against the killing that shocked the world, if you only read one book this year, read this one.

### From the Author

Writing this book was an interesting experience, as Melinda and I had to write it in secret.  And no one knew about it until after the Oscar Pistorius judgement.  We met secretly in weird and wonderful places to complete the book.

It was an extremely emotional journey.  As grateful as I was, that my daughter had not been shot, we felt overwhelming sadness for Reeva's parents, family and friends for the loss of their special lady.

We started writing the book with the court case looming in front of us, and not really knowing what to expect.

I was terrified of writing the book, but more scared not to.  In retrospect, I am very pleased that we went ahead and wrote it.

I was very fortunate to be able to write with Melinda Ferguson, as she is a highly respected author, and was my mentor and friend.

We wrote the book with the utmost integrity and honesty, and tried to portray a balanced version of events.

The vast majority of our writing was done before the court case, as we did not want this to be part of our book
