A Gathering of Waters is narrated by the town of Money, Mississippi. It has seen 2 floods, and the death of Emmett Till. The story, though follows the life of Hemmingway Hilson who is at the center of everything noteworthy that happens in Money. At its core it is a love story about the endurance of a romance cut short by unspeakable tragedy. But it is also about surviving unspeakable tragedy and learning to love again.
