Matt Washington has spent the past few months gazing out his office window, focusing on the man of his dreams in the office across the street. He’s been watching Tyler Durham from a distance for as long as he can remember, and he finally encounters him late one night when their paths cross in the neighborhood. Tyler begins to speak openly with Matt about his very public divorce from his estranged wife, and as Matt learns more about him, he tries his best to keep his true desires hidden.
Matt soon discovers that Tyler recently sold his company for a vast sum of money, and despite his best efforts to avoid scrutiny, the public has been watching him. As the two men continue to spend time together, Matt’s attraction starts to grow, but Tyler insists that they keep things private. He confesses to Matt that he signed an unusual prenuptial agreement, which his wife is trying to exploit by prolonging the divorce. Tyler explains that the agreement stipulates that if he is unfaithful to her, she gets half of everything he owns, so they must be discreet.
Matt and Tyler begin to see each other regularly, but their time together is captured by the lens of an investigative journalist who wants a payoff to remain silent about their affair. Tyler is faced with an ex-wife who feels entitled to a large settlement, and a reporter who’s attempting to blackmail him. Matt is forced to ask himself if he has a realistic chance at love with Tyler, or if his dreams will be shattered by the actions of others.
